Pimp my scooter…

I’ll admit that I don’t have much knowledge on many traditionally male topics (cars, engines, power tools, football and spam luncheon meat). But I *hate* when auto mechanics, electricians, home-depot-power-tool-experts, and other “manly men” treat my like I am a retarded monkey on acid because I lack this “manly” knowledge. In fact, I hate it so much that I avoid auto mechanics, hardware stores, sports bars and competitive spam eating competitions.

But my love for Atomic Fireball Stella #141 finally outweighed my fear of “traditionally male” domains. I decided my Stella needed tubeless rims. It would improve her stability. And that would make me smile. But the Atomic Fireball Stella #141 doesn’t have normal silver or chrome rims that I could order via the internet (thus avoiding contact with these patronizing “manly” men). The Atomic Fireball Stella #141 has custom yellow rims. This meant I would have to order the rims and have them powder coated. Which meant dealing with the powder coating shop and the scary manly powder coating guys who work there.

I have to admit, I procrastinated. I did *not* look forward to dealing with these guys. But I was wrong to be so judgemental. Through some miracle, the giant tatooed powder coating guys didn’t laugh at me and my 10 inch scooter rims. They didn’t treat me like I was a retarded monkey on acid. And they didn’t make me feel inadequate or ridiculous (which is surprising, since I already felt a little ridiculous. I *was* getting 10 inch scooter rims custom power coated). So, kudos to the powder coating guys. You made me smile. And now I have shiny yellow rims for my Stella. Yay! (or Vrooom)!
