Michael Vick…
“that one of our players — and therefore the Falcons — is being presented to the public in a negative way, and we apologize to our fans and the community for that.”
The Falcons are upset that things are being “presented to the public in a negative way”? What they should be upset about is the fact that Michael Vick killed numerous dogs by having other dogs tear them apart**. And if the poor dogs managed to survive the fight but were unfortunate enough to lose, he killed them anyways. He hung them, electrocuted them, drowned them or slammed them into the ground until they were dead.
The Falcons should be upset that the maximum sentence for this is appears to be a $250k-$350k fine and/or 3-6 years imprisonment (depending on which report you read). The Falcons should be upset that they associated with someone who has repeatedly shown that he is a failure as a human being. The Falcons should not be upset that Michael Vick is being “presented to the public in a negative way”. The Falcons should be *happy* that Michael Vick is “presented to the public in a negative way”.
**This assumes the allegations are correct (and given the statements by the Humane Society, and the guilty pleas of the other defendants involved – they most likely are). However I acknowledge that this is a topic that I am hyper sensitive about (I’ve spent a lot of time and effort working with dog rescue organizations. Two third of my foster dogs have been pitbulls. People who fight dogs make me really, *really* ill). But I may be jumping to conclusions, at this point all we have are allegations…
