That’s right, I now own a bonafide Sex Machine…
When I saw the poster advertising Genuine Scooter Company’s Stella as a Sex Machine, I found their claim dubious. I mean, scooters have a type of “funky cuteness” that might be appealing to some guys, but I really never thought of them as being sexy. I can see *motorcycles* as being sexy. And I have heard scooters referred to as “gateway motorcycles” (don’t even get me started on that rant). But I never thought of scooters as “sexy” in their own right. I certainly wouldn’t have labeled my scooter as a “Sex Machine”. I have been proven wrong. On Friday night, I picked up my new (well, new to me) Atomic Fireball Stella #141. Almost immediately, the Harley mechanic who lives next door to Alison called it hot!. In fact, the fireball is proving to be a *total* guy magnet. Had I known this, I would have gotten a one a *long* time ago.
I also just recieved the Summer 2007 issue of Scoot Quarterly (North America’s #1 Magazine for Vintage and Modern Motorscooters). According to this issue of Scoot (and we all know that Scoot is the word of God), “the earliest scooters started out as works of art, designed with sensual curves and organic shapes” and “women have always been equated with scooters”. Who knew? I mean I always equated scooters with a kind of funky cuteness (and I can generally pull off funky cuteness), but I never equated them with sexiness (something I find much more difficult to pull off). Perhaps I was wrong.
