Dammit, I *knew* my life was missing something…
I actively use OkCupid. This probably means that I am not the most well adjusted person in the world. I admit that I am not the most well adjusted person in the world. I admit that I am not happiest person in the world. But seriously, I didn’t ask for responses from the “Jesus Freaks”.
For Christ’s sake, do you really think that an email response to my personal ad is going to make me have “Eureka” moment and think, “Aha, I knew I was missing something. How could I have forgot Jesus…”
If you happen to be the person who sent me the following message, please, PLEASE, keep your views to yourself. I don’t want Jesus in my life (Not now, not ever…)
Your Message:
I’ve read alot of listings on OkCupid and your resume does come across as being highly impressive. However you are going about this all wrong. Maybe you have noticed it or maybe not. Yes there is something missing in your life. What you need is more than a man. The missing link in your life is Jesus Christ. OK well maybe you do believe in God and for sake of arguement I’ll say you are a pretty good person. But that won’t cut it. The bible says we are all sinners. The good news is Jesus came to earth to pay the price for our sins so we could be reconciled to God and spend eternity with him. We have to come to a point in life where we will humble ourselves before God and ask for his forgiveness. We need to ask him into our hearts to be our Lord and Savior. If we will just do that and trust him to save us we can a one on one personal relationship with him. Trust me he’s alive. He’s real. He loves you and is concerned with your life. He has a plan for you. Su! ccess in life is not about making money, or being popular, or famous. Success in life is doing the will of God. Until you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior your life will be incomplete. Your soul can only be satisfied with him. Let God rule in your heart-ask him to find you a mate. He see’s the big picture and can see thru men’s hearts to reveal their true intentions. I pray you reflect on this and respond quickly to Christ’s invitation. This is the most important decision you will ever make. Jesus stands at the door to your heart and knocks. Only you can let him in.
Believe it or not, I am apparently pretty biblically knowledgeable. According to the myspace Ultimate Bible Quiz, I “know the Bible 95%!” This apparently means that:
Wow! You are awesome! You are a true Biblical scholar, not just a hearer but a personal reader! The books, the characters, the events, the verses – you know it all! You are fantastic!
I find this funny, since I would assume that I don’t know that much about the Bible. I guess it is amazing what a smart girl can pick up from Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals, pop culture movies like Dogma and Saved , the Peter, Paul and Mary Christmas CD (my parents have weird taste), and a brief guilt-trip into the Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship. Hey, They gave me their scholarship for three years, I felt obligated to go to meetings for a month. Don’t judge me for taking Jesus’ money. Jesus doesn’t like people who judge others…
SUMMARY: I know what the bible says. I actively CHOOSE to not accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I don’t impose my belief system on you. Please show me the same courtesy. I realize when posting personal ads that I am setting myself up for emails from freaky people. I realized I was going to get spammed with emails from people who wrote in all capitals and couldn’t produce coherent sentences. I didn’t realize that I would get the ‘Jesus Freaks’. Please, in the future, don’t clutter my inbox with your freaking Jesus Spam. You make me hate Jesus (more).
